Galesafe Weighing is the Robway distributor in Victoria, Australia. It's founders, Neville Gale and Gloria Gale, were pioneers in establishing the Robway brand within Victoria. They have made a significant contribution to the overall success of Robway by providing quality sales and service for 25 years. In 1998, due to an increasing workload, their son in law, Jim Cairns, joined the Galesafe team. As a trio they have worked very well together, and built a substantial client base within their territory.

The time has come, however, for Neville to start to enjoy the spoils of their hard work. As of 1 July 2008, ownership of Galesafe will be transferred to Jim, along with his wife Rowena (Neville and Gloria's daughter), who having established her own career within the environmental sector of the petroleum industry, has decided to change career and embark on this new journey together with Jim. This has been a record year for Galesafe, and Jim and Rowena will work hard to continue this momentum into the medium and long term.

Neville and Gloria plan to remain in the business in support roles, ensuring the experience they have is used to facilitate a smooth transition. Along with Galesafe's two other technicians / installers, Brad and Chris, Galesafe will continue to be a formidable team in their territory with a view to using their current position to firmly establish the new range of Robway products.

Robway wish to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to Neville & Gloria for all their hard work over the years & wish them all the very best for the future.

CRANE SAFETY COMPANY LIFTING ITS FAIR SHARE OF EXPANSION

Thebarton’s Robway Crane Safety Systems will invest around $400,000 to set up an office in Dubai to cater to the company’s expanding Middle East market. The move is a departure from its distributorship model for the region, which saw sales revenue double this year.

Since an ownership change in 2003, Robway has undergone changes in management style under managing director Andrew Powell & sales director Andrew Toop, the company now reports a healthy turnover each year.

“Our strategy has been to concentrate on markets closer to Australia like Asia & the Middle East, but now we are ready to expand our footprint into the mature U.S. and European markets as well,” Mr. Powell said.

The shared focus on sales and marketing and product development – aided by a Federal Government grant in late 2005 – helped a lot, he said. “Sales to China have seen a five-fold jump this year,” Mr.Toop said.

The launch of a low-cost crane safety system in India saw sales increase by three times this year, he added. The company is expecting an increased uptake of its crane safety products within the local market as well, due to the recent mining boom

ROBWAY INCORPORATES WIND SPEED

Measuring wind speed is now an option easily included on the Robway RCI-1550. The RCI-1550 with its configurable LCD display can now give a clear read-out of wind speed, a feature that can be incorporated into new or existing displays.

Perfect for tower, hammerhead or large telescopic cranes the anemometer is seamlessly intergrated into the RCI-1550 controller and can provide a read-out in either kph or mph. The software supplied with the anemometer includes a user settable maximum (adjustable in function code) that once reached or exceeded will display a warning and provide an intermittent audible alarm.

Following the completion of internal trials the first unit was installed in September 2006 by Gary Evans of Crane Safety Systems (WA). This unit has been operating without fault as have others scattered throughout South East Asia. The units are a great alternative to the stand alone systems currently being used by most operators and offer an integrated approach to safe crane operation.

The feature has also been incorporated on the RCI-1502 display onboard strut/lattice boom cranes making use of the RCI-1502 length read-out to display wind speed.

For more information on these wind speed units please contact your local Robway distributor or regional manager.
